Had to start this new welcome page because I filled the old one.

This got cut from my book, “Gotta Write”, so I wanted to share it here

About taking the challenge to write Liberty

I ended up with 3 “Liberty” books because I took on a challenge.  

I had pivoted from screenplays to writing a ton of short stories.  This included an intriguing idea about aliens creating the zombie apocalypse to save the planet, which my Cousin-In-Law, Dave Russell, encouraged me to finish.  I sent it to The World of Myth (TWOM) hoping they would just publish it.  What I didn’t expect was for the publisher, Dave Montoya, to ask for the rest.  

I blinked.

Um.  There was no more.

I had no idea what happened next, and a part of me thought that I should just leave it there.  

But...what a challenge.  What an opportunity to test myself.  How good was I?  I dug in to see if I could create a story that was engaging, but that did not tread, at least too much, on well-worn ground.  Though I’ve heard good things, I still haven’t watched “Z Nation”, so as not to accidentally let their ideas bleed into mine.

I fleshed it out to four episodes, if you will, with a good ending.  Uncle Danny, who was not supposed to survive past the first story, got a second lease on life.  

Hallelujah!   Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition.  

But when I voiced my intention to end the story at the fourth one, other people, Rebecca Lynch and an Anonymous person said not to stop.  Later, the TWOM editor, Stephanie Bardy, would echo that sentiment.

The crowd had spoken.  

So, I kept going, making a serial that is still interesting and thrilling to me, and hopefully to everyone else.

Sorry, I haven’t added much lately.

I’ve been working on this project.

But!

I just sent my book about writing to the publisher. First time doing a nonfiction book, but it Was fun

And there was a bunch that didn’t fit so might be seeing that here, or if people like it… well, we’ll see.
